Scars form during the normal wound healing process and are the result of deeper skin injuries. Unsightly visible scar tissue is often left behind on your skin.
Scars which are particularly noticeable on exposed areas (e.g. on the face, décolleté, arms and legs) can be very annoying for those affected.
Can Tattoo Camouflage medical treatment and Meo treatment get rid of the appearance of scars?
Yes, both types of treatment are highly effective treatment methods in minimising and reducing the appearance of scars.
Do take note…
A scar is not just a scar. The Meo treatment and the medical tattoo camouflage treatment are not suitable for every type of scar.
There are basically three types of scars:
As part of the healing process, a wound is closed with a blood clot and the skin builds new firm, connective tissue underneath. However, the amount of newly created tissue is not sufficient to fill the wound to the original skin level. A slight dent or indentation remains, also known as a sunken scar. Stretch marks are typical atrophic scars.
These raised, thickened, and often itchy scars result from excessive scar tissue build-up, although limited to the wound area. This often happens after burns or at flexed areas (e.g. knees, elbows), where movement causes high tensile forces. Sometimes these scars go away on their own.
A keloid is a scar growth. In contrast to hypertrophic scars, the scar tissue here proliferates beyond the area of the injury. This usually begins three to four weeks after the injury. The tissue is often initiallysensitive to touch and is red and rubbery. Later the scar becomes firm, dark red and often itchy. Keloids do not disappear on their own, on the contrary: they can continue to grow over the years.
In our opinion, hypertrophic scars and scar keloids absolutely belong in the hands of an experienced dermatologist. These types of scars are not treated at Meo -Skinrepair. Plastic surgery can treat hypertrophic and scar keloid. It must be noted that the scar is reduced in size and the scar appears less conspicuous as a result.
After this surgical procedure, Meo Skinrepair can treat the altered scar.
Meo always recommends consulting an experienced dermatologist.
